The interpretive layer for environmental DNA — the models and methods that turn raw sequence into ecological meaning — is where most of a study's value now sits. We publish it, release it, and steward it in the open, so it can be verified, reused, and built on by any program — not only those that can license it.

Fields advance when methods are shared, checked, and reused. Interpretation kept private breaks that loop.
Environmental DNA is generated by many programs and read back by few. When the interpretive layer is licensed rather than published, results cannot be independently verified or extended, and the programs that produced the data cannot build on it. Open methods keep the work reproducible — which is how a field compounds rather than fragments. This is a structural matter, not a competitive one.
What we build
Open Standards & Pipelines
Shared preprocessing, taxonomy, and reference conventions — so a sample read in one bay can be compared to one read across an ocean. We harmonize; we do not hoard.
Open Foundation Models
Genomic foundation models on the near-term roadmap, released with weights and training recipes — reading the signal in a sequence, not just the matches in a database.
Open Interpretation
The last mile — from model output to an answer a steward can act on — published as methods, notebooks, and plain-language reports anyone can audit.
